About the event

Designed for doctoral students, post-docs, and early-career scholars, Scholar Forward is a monthly workshop series that offers practical ideas, resources, and conversation about the work of being a scholar. Each month, we’ll explore a different topic across three tracks: Teaching, Research, and Praxis.

Each one-hour session will include a focused workshop, followed by Q&A and dialogue, with ample room for conversation and exchange.

You will investigate the foundations of critical pedagogy through the works of Paulo Freire and bell hooks, defining the pedagogy of dissent as the art of teaching not to assent. The session will move beyond academic theory to resistance praxis, using the head, heart, and hands framework to address racial justice and decolonization through material action.
