The Pearls Project is an initiative that is committed to ending domestic violence. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence an estimated 1.3 million women are the victim of physical assault by an intimate partner each year. It seems that the issue of domestic violence has become largely trivialized, and our culture has been desensitized to its effects. Domestic violence not only affects the women who are subjected to it, but also their children, families and our country.
The Pearls Project was officially established in 2014 and is dedicated to raising awareness about this tragic culture and working to end it. We are not just a charity; our hope is to be a movement. We hope to inspire people to action and to create change. Our goals are simple:
Over time we hope to grow our Men in Pearls program to national recognition and to continue to grow the annual cabaret as a source of funding our project. Our ultimate goal would be to open a brick and mortar center; one that will offer sanctuary to these women, connect them to care, and one day offer programs to help rehabilitate the men who want to change this culture. Until then we will do what we can to raise awareness about our cause.
These women we want to help are like precious pearls in an ocean, their value is high and quality genuine and true, and like pearls once they are made they can never be broken.
